Happy Halloween!

I am finally updating, can you believe it?? I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween, filled with lots of fun and laughter! We had a pretty low key Halloween this year. We spent our night sitting on the couch watching "The Sing Off" while handing out candy. We really enjoyed our holiday just relaxing and not having to get ready for a big party. Before Leyla went to bed we took her out front and got a few pictures of her in her costume on her 1st Halloween! Here is our little Leyla Bug-ENJOY!

Before I get to the house-here are a couple pictures of our growing princess! We can't get enough of her!

This past June we bought our first home together. We have loved every minute of owning a house. We have spent most of our summer working in the yard (trust me it needed A LOT of work). We still have a lot of things to decorate, but that is going to take time and MONEY!

Here is the kitchen-my favorite room. We have never had an apartment with so much cupboard space!

The next few picture are of our basement. The guy that lived here before us did some way random/weird things when he was finishing it. We are going to have a lot of work to do to fix it up.

June Happenings

June has been full of summer fun! At the first part of the month we moved to Tremonton. We are loving our new home. I will post pictures soon! A couple of weeks ago we went on our first camping trip of the summer up to Yost with the Palmer family. We were so excited for this camping trip because we were going to finally have Leyla meet Taryn, Ryan and Stella for the first time! It rained a little bit while we were there, but we had tons of fun just spending time together.

Since this is our 1st summer home since we have been married, Greg has been able to play a little ball again. We have spent some time at a few baseball games with the Aggies, some softball with his friends and also some softball with the Llama's.

While Ryan and Taryn were up visiting Greg was able to play again with his brother. It was so nice to have Taryn back to chat with during the games.

Yesterday we spent the day at Lagoon for Nucor Day. We thought that taking Leyla to Lagoona Beach would be so much fun for her-WRONG! She hated the water and the heat! I ended up not getting any sun and trying to get her to take a nap the entire time!

Leyla is 3 months and 1 week today. I can't believe my little girl is growing up so fast!

All in all it was a great day with family, even though we had a few freak out moments. What would parenthood be without those right?

June has been good to us so far. Let's hope July stays warm and that my little girl will learn to like the sun a little more so that I can get a tan :)

This past Sunday Greg blessed Leyla in our church. He gave her such a special blessing. I am so grateful for these my beautiful daughter and my handsome husband :) I love you both so much!

Change

The past 6 weeks of our lives have been full of changes. In March we welcomed our sweet little Leyla into the world. She has brought so much joy into our lives. She is changing so much every day and growing up so fast. She is such a good baby. She has started smiling and she stays awake a lot during the day. She isn't sleeping through the night yet, but is sleeping 4-5 hours at least once a night.

Back in January Greg applied for a sales position at Nucor. He told me he knew he wasn't going to get the job, but it was worth applying for. A month later they called him and did a phone interview with him. After that he was called in for a face to face interview, an interview with the whole sales department, and two more phone interviews. Three weeks ago they called him and offered him the position. We are so grateful that this job worked out and we were able to stay home for the summer and not have to travel with a new baby. It is bittersweet not going to Minnesota with the rest of the family, but we feel like this job was such a great opportunity. My husband is so great to us. He works so hard to provide for our family.

In one month (hopefully) we will be residents of TREMONTON! I never thought in a million years Greg and I would live in Tremonton. We are in the process of buying our very first home. I am so excited to be able to live in a house and not an apartment anymore-we are running out of space! After a lot of thought and discussion we decided Tremonton was the best place for us so that we would both be close to work. We are hoping everything stays on schedule and we can move in by June 2!

As most of you know our sweet little Leyla joined our family on March 21, 2011 at 7:34 p.m. weighing in at 6 pounds 14 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long.

LABOR STORY

At my last doctor appointment (the day after my due date) I wasn't progressing at all so my doctor scheduled me to be induced the following Thursday., March 24th. On March 21st at 2:20 a.m. I got up to go to the bathroom but couldn't stop peeing (or so I thought). I was half asleep trying to figure out why I couln't control my bladder. I was hollering for Greg to wake up, but I couldn't get him to wake up. Finally, I was able to get up and wake him up. I told him I thought my water had broke, but I wasn't quite sure. We started googling what it is like when your water breaks. After 45 minutes or so we decided that we needed to head to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 3:30 a.m. and got checked in my room. Then the waiting began! They started me on pitocin around 6:00 a.m. and within an hour I was dilated to a 4! At this point I am thinking this is going to be a short process-WRONG! I was not fully dilated to a 10 until 6:30 p.m. The nurse came in around 7:00 and had me start to push. I pushed one time for the nurse and she had to get the doctor because she said the baby was going to come fast. I only had to push for 25-30 minutes max before we got to meet our sweet little girl! I wasn't able to hold her as soon as she came out because she had swallowed meconium and they had to rush in a respritory nurse so they could suck everything out of her lungs before she was able to take her first breath. They worked on her for about 20 minutes before I was able to finally hold her. After we got to hold her for a few minutes they took her from us and transferred her to the NICU. I had spiked a fever during delivery and they were worried she had an infection from going through the birth canal and wanted her to get started on an antibiotic as soon as possible. It wasn't fun being away from her in the hospital, but I am so thankful she is healthy and everything checked out ok. We love her so much and can't even imagine our lives without her! Nights have been ok. For the most part she has slept really good and only wakes up to eat every 3 hours.

I went to the pediatrician today and her stats at 2 weeks are

20 inches long and 7 pounds 8 ounces

This past year has been so wonderful! 2010 has allowed Greg and I to do so many fun things and grow closer together than ever before! Here is a recap of our year...

January

-We started off the new year by going to Vegas/St. George with some of our best friends Whitney and Jase for a mini vacation.

February

-Nothing exciting happend in February. Greg and I both stayed busy with work.

March

-We celebrated 2 wonderful years together on March 13th!

- We celebrated Greg's 25th birthday on March 25th.

-We took a week vacation to California and spent 3 days at dinsneyland. (Greg's first time there)

April

-Celebrated my 25th birthday.

-Greg left me for 5 weeks and moved to Wichita, KS for another year of summer sales.

-I had my first surgery to clear up some endometriosis and found out my appendix was also removed when I woke up!

May

-Most of May was spent in front of my computer skyping with Greg.

-Greg flew home for our dance review.

-We traveled accross the country to Wichita, KS.

-We moved out of our apartment in KS to an apartment in Oklahoma City.

June

-Most of June I spent at the pool with the girls or running on the little Oklahoma trails with my sister in the Oklahoma heat!

-Greg was busy working so hard for our little family

-We went to a bunch of triple A baseball games whenever Greg had a day off.

July

-After many months of trying to get pregnant and after 8 possitive pregnancy tests we realized my surgery was a success and we had a little one on the way!

-We were able to tour downtown (bricktown), go to the zoo and see a couple more baseball games.

August

-Most of August was spent sitting inside due to the fact that morning sickness was in full effect!

-Greg finished his job!

-We packed up and took the road trip back to Utah (with no air conditioner)

-We spent a day at the Box Elder County Fair and rodeo with some of my best friends!

-Greg purchased his first truck, a 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500.
-My brother and we added another beautiful sister in law to the family.

-Went to Fetal Fotos and was told our little baby was going to be a GIRL!

September

-Mrs. Blueberry broke down (aka my car) so we purchased our first hyundai.

-Spent a few days at Twin Lakes boating and spending time with family.

October

-Our 19 week ultrasound confirmed that we are having a baby girl!

-I was able to throw a baby shower for one of my best friends Whitney.

-Greg's good friend from Mongolia came and spent a weekend with us.

-Spent quite a few weekends cheering on the Aggie football team.
-We took our annual four wheeler ride to the top of Mt. Logan with Jim and Sarah.

November

-We spent many weekends at Aggie basketball games cheering on the team and watching my beautiful sister in law cheer and dance.

-We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner spent with family and friends.

-Greg got PRK surgery on his eyes-goodbye glasses and contacts!

December

-Mostly spent finishing up our christmas shopping.

-We spent so much time with familiy at family parties or just hanging out chatting all night with family.

-We got spoiled this year for christmas from both families.

I am now 30 weeks pregnant and the countdown is on-10 more weeks until our sweet little girl is here! I can't wait to see what 2011 has in store for our little family!

It's official-we are having a little girl, Leyla, March 17, 2011! As of this week I am 20 weeks pregnant and getting bigger by the day! Greg and I are so excited for this new chapter in our lives. I have been having some crazy thoughts the past few weeks and have been struggling to get past them. I am terrified of being a mother! Did anyone else feel this way with their first baby? I have also been struggling with the fact that it is never going to be just Greg and I again! I don't know why I am feeling this way, maybe it's just the crazy horomones! I really am thrilled to be a mom and I know I will feel so much different once she is here! Pregnancy is start to get a lot more exciting and getting more real. I felt her move for the first time Friday night and have felt her every day since! We had our 20 week ultra sound last Friday and she is as healthy as can be (huge relief)! Here are a few pictures of the baby.

Boy or Girl??

Greg and I couldn't be happier to announce that we are going to have a baby!

A little Karly or a little Greg?? We can't wait to see!!

I am only 8 weeks right now and just starting to feel sick. I am hoping it doesn't get any worse! As of right now my due date is March 10th-hopefully not an anniversary baby!

Downtown/4th of July

OKC has been fun this year. Greg is still working his butt off in this miserable heat and doing great-Love him! Sundays are Greg's only day off, so it's usually the time that we go see the OKC sites. A couple weeks ago we went to Bricktown (downtown). You can walk along the canal through the city and see all of the shops, restauraunts, etc. They also have this memorial of how the Oklahoma was founded. The statues are huge-very cool.

For the 4th of July this year the girls went and bought fireworks. We were able to buy some pretty neat fireworks because they aren't illegal in Oklahoma. We did our fireworks at midnight on the 3rd so we could go downtown and see the fireworks on the 4th. We ended up buying tickets to the baseball game and right before it was supposed to start they cancelled it because the field was too wet. We were so bummed out because we had to just sit there and wait for an hour and a half for the fireworks. It ended up being a lot of fun and were glad we had the best seats in the house.

So far our time in OKC has been a lot of fun. Greg and I were able to go downtown and watch a triple A baseball team play. Greg loved it! We got all you can eat hot dogs, drinks, nachos, cotton candy, popcorn and peanuts. We had such a good time at the ball game. I'm so lucky to have such a great guy in my life that has introduced me to the wonderful world of baseball!

A taste of Kansas

This summer started out in Kansas for Greg and I. Greg got to spend much more time here than I was able to, but we both really enjoyed it there. In the short week that I was there I mastered killing spiders, being aware of where I was stepping constantly and running from the geese. We enjoyed Kansas and the beauty we were surrounded by while we were there.

Our apartments were built around this man made lake. There were tons of ducks, geese, turtles and frogs there. Greg and I went on a walk around the little lake the Sunday before we left. The temperature was perfect!

Another thing you might want to know about Kansas is that it is known for it's crazy weather. You could never guess if it was going to rain that day. It would be so hot and nice, then within 10 minutes it is raining harder than I have ever seen it rain before. They have pretty sweet lightening storms. Here is a picture during a storm....

We loved our time in Kansas, but are so glad to be living in Oklahoma now-our apartments are much nicer here!

Here are a few pictures from what we've been up to in 2010.

This January we went to St. George/Vegas with Whitney and Jase. We had so much fun getting away from Logan for a few days. Thanks for the great trip Whit and Jase!! Hopefully we can do it again when we get back!

February was pretty laid back month. Greg and I were both pretty busy with work.

March was a busy month for us. We were able to see our brand new niece, go to disneyland and celebrate Greg's 25th birthday!

I have mixed feelings about April this year. Greg quit his job at the end of March so that he could have a couple weeks off before he left for the summer. We spent so much time together-I loved every minute of it! We were able to go golfing quite a few times together. Greg left a couple days before my birthday to Kansas to sell for the summer. I wasn't able to go with him because we were in the middle of competition season for the studio. I had to stay home until our dance revue was over.

May was another busy month. I spent most of my days at the studio and at dance competitions. It helped pass the 5 weeks that was I was away from my sweet husband. On May 21st Greg flew home to come to the dance revue. The next morning we packed our car and drove to Kansas. We were in Kansas for a week and a half and have now moved to Oklahoma City. We will be living here for the next 2 1/2 months. We love it here so far. Greg has been working super hard. Have I ever mentioned how much I love him?? As for me, I am just being a house wife and enjoying the 95 degree weather!

Better late than never, right?

This past March our dance studio decided to take our cheerleaders to compete in a cheer competition in California at Knottsberry Farm. Even though it wasn't any of the classes I taught Greg and I thought it would be a fun vacation for the two of us (especially since Greg has NEVER been to Disneyland!!!)

We left on a Tuesday and came back that Saturday night. We spent 3 full days in Disneyland riding all of the rides. Our last day we spent sitting by the pool. It was so nice to get out of freezing cold Utah and enjoy nice 70 degree weather!

Wonderful Wife and Friend!!!!

Hey everybody that reads out blog!!! This is Greg and I am blogging for the very first time. I dont think that Karly even knows that I know how to blog. I am having a little trouble sleeping tonight, so while my wife is sleeping, I thought I would post they way I feel about my wife publically. I think that Karly is the most incredible person on the face of this planet. I am the luckiest man alive to be married to her. She is the most thoughtful person that I have ever met. She is always thinking about me and my needs and never puts herself before me. I have lots to learn before I am anywhere close to as good to her and she is to me. I am grateful to be married to her and be able to spend this wonderful journey with her. There are times when I am sure I drive her up the wall ( Jazz games, Aggie games, actually just sports in general) She is really great to just take it as it goes. She probably thinks that I am more in love with those activites than I am with her but that could not be any further from the truth. I love her with all my heart and I hope that she knows that. I know I am being a little mushy but I want her and all of you to know how I feel about her. We are one month shy of being married for two years and it has definately been the best, most rewarding two years of my life. I look forward to spending many more years (forever) with my wonderful spouse. I love you Kar!!!!!!!!!

Graduation

This past month Greg graduated from Utah State University with a bachelors in Marketing. I am so proud of him! To celebrate we went with Whitney and Jase to Salt Lake to temple square and Benihana to eat. We had so much fun spending the night together laughing and having a good time with great friends.

As of right now Greg is looking for a Marketing job. He has been talking about going back to school and applying for graduate school. We will keep everyone updated when he decides exactly what he wants to do.

I have a lot to update on. I will keep the updates coming so I can get up to date in our busy lives.

When should you trust your husband/Halloween

I know-I know I suck at blogging! The truth is, Greg and I don't have anything interesting going in our lives to write about. We have done a couple of things this past month that have been a lot of fun. First, we had a Halloween party with a bunch of friends. We had so much fun dressing up, eating so much good food and playing a bunch of fun games. I am so glad we went and were able to spend the night with such fun people!

Here are a couple of pictures of Greg and I on Halloween.

Second, a couple of weeks ago some of my family decided to get together and go on a hike to the widcaves. We couldn't have chosen a better day to go! We had so much fun on the way up, on the way down was a different story! Greg decided on the way down he KNEW the old trail and insisted we should go that way and beat the others down. Like the good wife that I am, I trusted him! Little did I know he would lead me astray. We got lost and there was no turning back. About halfway down the mountain we slid on our butts down steep hills with NO trail. I was so mad at him and decided there are times when you shouldn't trust your husband-LESSON LEARNED! Fall 2009

Sorry, I know it has been a while since I updated. The truth is we are either at work or not doing anything fun enough to blog about. Greg has been gone to the deer hunt the last couple of weekends so I have been home alone. We have done a couple of fun things this past week. Here are a few pictures.

We went deer hunting last sunday for a couple of hours right in front of my parents house. We saw about 20 deer, but no bucks :)

This past friday night my mom had a halloween party for my family-tons of fun! We had a big pizza party and played a bunch of halloween games. It's so fun to watch all of the nieces and nephews get so excited to win prizes and candy. Thanks for the great party mom!

Yesterday we were able to go and carve our pumpkins with some of our friends. I didn't get a picture of the group, but here is a picture of our finished pumpkins. Thanks Riley and Aubry for inviting us!

That is about all that has been going on in the Palmer home. I am still teaching dance every night of the week and Greg is finishing his last couple months of school. He will be graduating at the end of this semester with a degree in Marketing. If anyone knows of any jobs out there please let us know!

We are home!!

Our summer in Philly is over! We moved back 2 weeks ago and have been enjoying so many things being back home. We have been able to spend a lot of time with our families and do some of the things we missed out on this summer.

A couple weeks ago we had some of my friends from high school get together for dinner. We had a lot of fun talking about all of the fun and crazy things we did in high school-thanks girls it was so much fun to see you! (sorry no pictures) We were also able to go to the county fair that same week. Greg wanted to go on a ride so bad so he bought us tickets. We ended up riding the orbiter and both realized we are getting too old for fair rides. We both couldn't walk straight after. We had a lot of fun eating the fair food, dancing at the band stand and spending much needed time with friends and family.

We have also been spending a little time up on the river fishing-Greg's favorite past time. I took advantage of my discounts at Dick's when I was working there and bought him some new fishing waders and boots. Greg caught a bunch of really pretty fish, me on the other hand, I caught the tree more than anything! Why is fly fishing so hard for me?? I think it was more of a workout than anything (walking up the river). Despite my poor fishing skills we had a great night and I'm glad my husband is teaching me to love new things.

Sorry this post is so long. One day Greg and I took the four-wheeler up to the top of mt. Logan. We got lost so many times trying to find the top. They have apparently made new roads up there that we didn't know about-oh well it made a fun trip! If you have never been to the top-GO! It is so pretty up there. You can look out and see the whole valley. It is definitely worth seeing!

And last but not least, Labor Day weekend! We spent the first half of the weekend with my family up at Lake Oneida camping. We had so much fun sitting by the camp fire talking, skiing, jumping of the rope swing, riding the four-wheelers and of course eating dutch oven!! The second half of the weekend we spent with the Palmers. We had dutch oven in their backyard and had a bbq the next day. We also went out to Newton fishing on Monday night. Taylor out fished us all, but we had a good time. We never got any pictures that do justice, but Taylor caught two HUGE tiger muskies. Here a few pictures from the weekend. Fun in the Sun!

This past Sunday after church we drove to Ocean City, NJ to lay out on the beach. We had so much fun laying out in the sun and playing in the ocean. Thanks to Kylan for planning the trip!

We are enjoying our summer back East. We have been able to do so many fun things. A couple of weeks ago one of my best friends, Kami, was able to come stay with us for a couple of days. It was so good to see her and have some girl talks! We miss you girl-come see us again before we leave!

I am grateful for this opportunity to spend so much time with my wonderful husband. We are both working a lot. I am now a manager at work. I am in charge of the front end of the store. I am in charge of all of the chashiers and have to count the money and balance out the money in the safes and the registers. So far it's been stressful-so much to learn! We can't believe the summer is already half over. Time flies when you are having fun I guess!

Greg and I are having so much fun being here in Philadelphia. We have been so close to so many things and it has been fun to see different parts of the country. This past Sunday we were able to go to New Jersey and stay with Logan's (a guy out here selling) aunt and uncles house so that we could get a cheap bus ride out to New York. We had such a fun day in New York. We weren't able to see everything since we were only there for a few short hours-but it was definitely enough time for me :) We were able to go walk down Times Square, go to Canal Street and do a little bartering, take a walk along the Hudson River and look at the Statue of Liberty, go see ground zero and take a walk in Central Park. We had a long day, but it was worth going and getting out for the day. Here are a few pictures from the trip.

As you can tell, we are having so much fun! Greg is still doing really well with selling. I recently found out that I got the job at Dick's Sporting Goods-I start on Monday. I decided I wanted to work somewhere close to where we live and somewhere that I am surrounded with things that I love. My husband is hoping I get a big discount-go figure! We are missing Utah and our families right about now-especially the driving and the simplicity of the roads and freeways!

I finally made it out to Philadelphia with Greg! So far we are having a lot of fun getting to know all of the new people in the office this year. Last Sunday after church we spent the afternoon in downtown Philadelphia and were able to see some of the historical sites. We are excited for this summer and all of adventures we are going to have!
